Music production is one of the fastest growing cultural practices in Europe. However, the way we congregate around music is not diversifying accordingly. Dominant policy responses have been based around the advocacy for nightlife and live venues: spaces that play a significant role in the development of contemporary music culture, but which increasingly fixate development at a historical moment rather than where things are going.

Gallery.wav is different type of space. A space where producers can explore cultural heritage, encounter art about their own practice, experiment with new technology, and invent new exhibition formats – not as isolated events, but as an accumulating institutional life.

Where the night time economy organizes collective presence around performance and consumption, Gallery.wav institutionalizes appropriation as an aesthetic orientation – a framework through which new rituals, new artistic expressions, and new relationships to cultural heritage can continuously emerge.
